Two-year Programme/Professional

Haute Couture Design & Pattern Making

TWO-YEAR PROGRAMME – KOEFIA DIPLOMA

Two years of atelier practice to become a professional designer and pattern maker, ready to work with leading companies in the industry.

The course is designed for those who wish to develop analog and digital design skills while gaining an in-depth understanding of couture pattern making and the construction of the garments they design.

Haute Couture Design & Pattern Making

This two-year programme develops the creativity of the fashion designer through comprehensive training that combines theory and practice. The curriculum covers pattern making for both Haute Couture and industrial production. Its three-dimensional teaching approach enables students to understand body volume from the earliest design stage. Cultural studies enrich creative ability, while graphic software such as Photoshop, Illustrator and Procreate enables students to develop garments and collections through advanced visual presentations. During the first year, with 20 hours of classes per week, students build a solid technical and creative foundation. The second year, with 12 to 16 hours of classes per week, focuses primarily on Koefia couture pattern making and industrial pattern making according to the Istituto Secoli method. By the end of the course, graduates enter the professional world with advanced garment-design and construction skills. Professional command of the software and strong pattern-making expertise make graduates immediately operational, with excellent prospects in both the couture and industrial fashion sectors.

Classes begin in October.

B&W – Detail of a dress in white cotton canvas printed with a bespoke pattern. The volume of the skirt develops from the closely fitted waist.

FORM STUDY – Paper is shaped on the dress form to create radial folds converging towards the shoulder, producing a close fit at the waist and structure across the upper body.

WORK IN PROGRESS – Black crinoline bustier. The toile panels have already been sewn and boned; work now moves to the cup, ready to be attached.

DRAPING ON THE DRESS FORM – The draping is carried out directly with paper on the dress form, creating a base that can already be used to develop the pattern.

DETAIL CLOSE-UP – A slim handcrafted belt supports the waistline of organza trousers. The fabric texture is created by applying bias-cut strips, topstitched side by side.

FUR-POWER – Outerwear garment with a texture created by applying yarns of contrasting thicknesses, giving the piece a tactile three-dimensional quality and finished with fur edging.
